The Orton Gillingham Method is intended to address the reading needs of a student from pre-kindergarten through third grade. Each grade level has a requisite number of phonics skills that must be covered. When your child enrolls with Enriched, we do a complete phonics assessment, which indicates to your child’s tutor where to begin in the phonics sequence. Your child remains with Enriched until the phonics sequence is complete. That said, we do not require families to commit to ongoing services. After enrolling your child, schedules are confirmed on a weekly basis. As long as you continue to see progress, we encourage you to remain with your Enriched tutor. Students who complete the entire Orton Gillingham sequence are confident readers and writers for life!

Students in pre-kindergarten and kindergarten traditionally are scheduled for 30-minute virtual sessions 2-3 times per week. Students in first grade and older are traditionally scheduled for 45-minute virtual sessions 2-3 times per week.

All in-person sessions must be a minimum of 45-minutes in duration.

Middle and high school students typically schedule 60-minute sessions for both virtual and in-person.

The Kindergarten Readiness Program was originally intended to address the needs of students who were applying to ongoing independent schools. Nursery and pre-kindergarten students who want to prepare for independent school interviews benefit greatly from this program. As Enriched has continued to evolve, we now have many learners enrolled in the Kindergarten Readiness Program who find the program supports a seamless transition to full-time school. Any nursery and pre-kindergarten student can benefit from the compendium of skills addressed in this early childhood program. Additionally, this program covers the initial Orton Gillingham sequence, so onboarding to reading is also a focus.

With a combined 40 years of experience in education, Brooke and Mary remain connected to an extensive roster of professional colleagues. Through this existing network, Enriched has over 100 trained, Masters Degree holding teachers available to tutor your child. We think carefully about making the right match between tutor and child, considering not only subject area expertise, but social/emotional fit as well. Finally, we believe that pedagogy is key to successful teaching. Unlike competitor firms, many of which employ highly educated professionals without a teaching background, Enriched remains committed to hiring teachers who have a degree in education or a related field, head teacher experience, and can show proven results with neuro-typical AND neuro-divergent learners.

Our curriculum is concentrated, kinesthetic, personalized and fun. Our experience and research shows us that individualized, short bursts of literacy-based skills instruction is the most efficient way to support young virtual learners. Our head teachers work to create meaningful connections with their students, so they look forward to the sessions each week. Additionally, head teachers frame activities and lesson plans within the context of a child's learning profile, employing kinesthetic, auditory, and visual pedagogical approaches based on a child's optimal learning style.

Families who fill out an inquiry form will be contacted within two business days to discuss our recommendations based on the options they are interested in. Once the program of study is decided upon and schedules are aligned, families will be connected with a head teacher, who will send virtual classroom links (if applicable) and a materials list. Enrolled families will also receive access to our recommended materials and homework sheets.

Head teachers are in close contact with parents. You will receive some feedback, via email, after each session and a full progress report with suggested enrichment activities after the final session of the week. We are a results oriented enrichment program and are invested in your child's success. We want to hear your feedback and support you on this journey as well.

We encourage families to complete at least one week of sessions with their assigned tutor. Some children can be more hesitant and need a bit of time to settle in. Our head teachers are patient. If the child can only attend for 15 minutes of the first session, for example, we will meet with him/her for the additional 15 minutes later that day or week. Families may get a full refund, minus the classes attended, if they are not satisfied with the program. Additionally, we are happy to change your child’s tutor as many times as needed, until the right synergy is formed between tutor and child.

Enriched can arrange for in-person tutoring sessions in New York City, Fairfield County, Westchester County and South Florida. We also have seasonal in-person tutoring available in Long Island. If you are interested in in-person services in another location, please inquire. We will do our best to accommodate all requests.
