Mary Cantwell

"All children are capable of reaching their highest potential when instruction is thoughtful, multi- sensory and intentional."

Mary, a Manhattan native,  has been the Director of the London-based Garden House School of New York for the better half of the last two decades.  Specializing in curriculum development, mentoring new teachers through classroom modeling, and parent partnerships, Mary brings her warm and unparalleled style to Enriched.  A Fordham University alumnae, Mary started her career as a reading specialist  in the New York City public school system at an elementary school in East Harlem and then a Middle School in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.  Passionate about utilizing multi-sensory instruction for all types of learners, she is also a successful private tutor. This spring, Mary discovered that a multimodal approach can successfully translate virtually, and children are capable of academic gains beyond the classroom setting. As a life-long learner, Mary enjoyed the time she spent teaching at the Hunter College School of Education and continues to participate in development opportunities whenever possible.  She is proud and happy to report that her daughter Ava, a junior at the Spence School, aspires to work with children in the future.

"The ability to read, write and analyze; the confidence to stand up and demand justice and equality; the qualifications and connections to get your foot in the door and take your seat at the table - all of that starts with education." - Michelle Obama

Brooke Ooten grew up in Connecticut and attended the Taft School before moving to New York City following her graduation from Colgate University in 2001. Initially in the world of finance, Brooke quickly realized a passion for teaching after assisting Scott Rostan with Teaching the Street one summer during her tenure as a Merrill Lynch investment banking analyst. She went on to obtain her Masters in Teaching from Columbia University Teachers College in 2004 and has taught at numerous top-tier institutions in New York City, including Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School, Marymount School, The Chapin School, and St. Thomas More Play Group. Additionally, Brooke has been a private tutor for the past 10 years, working in that capacity in both private homes and at The Brearley School.
